anjali misir is a Guyanese-American and Indo-Caribbean illustrator based in Queens, New York. Her illustrations are inspired by memory, nature, and moments with family. She also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts.

As anjali continues to learn about the history of indenture in Guyana, she hopes to make work reflecting her ancestry, culture, and her family’s memories of the home they left. Her sketchbooks are filled with the people of NYC, plants, and the strange figures that visit her dreams.

Aside from illustration, anjali enjoys making autobiographical comics, storyboarding, and writing critical art essays on artists and gallery exhibitions. She has recently developed a newfound love for birding and has been recording her meetings with different birds in a small journal.

Anjali's writing has been published in The Match Factory Issues #16, #19, and #21, Newtown Literary Issue #19, 826NYC Review Issue No. 12 and 13, Somewhere in the Night Sky, and Much More Than a Thought.
